Program Description

Event Details

This presentation will provide information about the Solomon Guggenheim Museum exhibits that are currently on display.  Feel prepared to know what to expect before visiting in person. In addition to the impressive rotating permanent collection, this museum will feature two main exhibitions this winter.  “Alex Katz:  Gathering” will focus on the extensive work of this contemporary American artist, who depicts the world through his figurative canvases.  Additionally, “Nick Cave:  Forothermore” will offer a major survey overview of a dynamic contemporary American artist who marries fashion, art, video, and performance with a focus on marginalized people.

Anne Swartz is an art historian who focuses on contemporary American art.  She is a Professor of Art History at the Savannah College of Art and Design.  She holds degrees from The University of the South, Vanderbilt University, and Case Western Reserve University. In addition to authoring numerous exhibition catalogues, essays, and reviews and lecturing widely on contemporary art, she’s received several fellowships and awards, including a Fulbright Scholar Fellowship to Japan in 2002-03.

This is a hybrid event, in-person and on Zoom.  Please register below to receive the Zoom link on the day of the event.  To help anticipate guest count in person, registration is suggested.
