The artist's statement:

Gray studied landscape design and painting at the New York Botanical Garden and received his BFA from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.  Gray's solo art show "Inner Space" features abstractions in gouache derived from natural motifs.  They invite the viewer into an inner space of contemplation rather than identification.  Gray often employs subtle grid structures and layers realistic elements into non-representational images.  His work is inspired by the writer Joseph Campbell who said, “It is the function of art to carry us beyond speech to experience.”

The art on display is for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the library.

The opening reception is sponsored by Friends of the Library. Everyone is invited to attend.
