This program is taught by Jonathan Cyriac, a rising junior at Seton Hall Preparatory School, and Saffron Cyriac, also a rising junior.
In this program, I aim to teach students about the foundations of financial literacy.
In this 3-week program, I will teach topics covering the history and the functions of money; functions of money, and how they can be applied to their lives; differentiating needs vs. wants; the basics of savings, investing, and budgeting; how do people earn money; saving vs. investing; the types of investments; risk vs. reward & delayed gratification; diversification and other investing information; introduction into banks and how they operate; spending money reasonably; and how to be a smart shopper.
Even though the curriculum looks advanced, I have developed my lessons to explain these topics in a simple and easy-to-understand way for the students.
Every lesson would follow a pattern similar to this: General Question/Icebreaker
--> Lessons/Curriculum Using Videos & Slides --> Activities --> General Debrief.
To make sure that the lessons are engaging and exciting, every lesson will feature a unique and engaging activity that fosters creativity and critical thinking, without being redundant. My overall objective is to make sure that students have a fun time while learning about a topic that I feel passionate about and that is necessary later in life.
For Grades 3 & 4.
