Event Details

Join us as retired art professor, Mary Vahey, takes us on a virtual tour of Sixties Surreal, an exhibit at the Whitney from September 24, 2025 through January 19, 2026. Sixties Surreal is a scholarly reappraisal of American art from 1958 to 1972 that foregrounds the role of surrealism during a period of social and political upheaval. The range of works by over 100 artists include Diane Arbus, Lee Bontecou, Franklin Williams, Nancy Grossman, David Hammons, Yayoi Kusama, and Romare Bearden.
