Event Details

Louis Zamperini’s B-24 bomber crashed in the Pacific Ocean in 1943. He survived 47 days in a lifeboat before capture by the Japanese Navy. Zamperini spent 2 years in a POW camp where he was severely beaten and mistreated. After the war, Zamperini was tormented by nightmares which continued until he learned to forgive his captors. This program includes his career as a runner at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin where after finishing the 5000 meter race with a flourish he was recognized by Adolf Hitler. Video of the documentary The Great Zamperini with Bob Simon will be featured.

Presented by Rick Feingold, he has extensive knowledge of history topics, while working as the marketing director at the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State University. He teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College.

This event will be hybrid, in person and on Zoom. Advanced registration is required to receive Zoom link.
