Numismatics is the study of coins and currency, usually associated with the collection of rare coins. Numismatists study the physical properties, production technology, and historical context of specimens of currency. Ray Williams, District Representative of the American Numismatic Association, will be giving a presentation about Continental Currency, how it relates to the American Revolution, and different issues related to this new currency in our country. There will be an exhibit of genuine examples from each of the authorizing legislation dates.
Williams is a recently retired electronic technician who collects and researches the coins and currency that circulated in our colonial and confederation periods (before the Constitution). In addition to authoring and editing books and articles, he is active in numismatic organizations on a local, state and national level.
This presentation will be in-person only. Advance registration is encouraged.
