Mrs. Bennett Follows the Army

The Chatham Township Historical Society presents this hybrid program featuring Pat Wells as Polly Bennett.

Polly Bennett is a camp follower, and she’s not what you think she is. Like most camp followers, she’s sticking to an enlisted husband or son because it’s not safe at home where she’s at the mercy of the British, Hessians, or Loyalists. She’s working her way across the country as a cook, laundress, or nurse. Mrs. Bennett will be here in person to tell you her story. It’s a good one.
