This is Part 1 of the series.  (Part 2 is on May 15.)

How was it possible for a son of a minor noble family from Corsica to become the Emperor of the French?  This lecture aims to explain the rise of one of the most famous figures in Western, if not world, civilization.  Napoleon’s intellectual, civic, governmental, and military achievements will be weighed in the context of the movement that birthed him – the French Revolution.

About the presenter:  Alex Clemente has worked in education for more than 20 years. He currently serves as a professor at both William Paterson University and the County College of Morris, specializing in ancient and medieval history. He is dedicated to sharing his passion with others through college classes and lifelong learning presentations for libraries and senior community centers.
