This program is taught by Jack Jerow, a rising junior at Seton Hall Preparatory School.
During this course we will discuss different types of poetry, including haiku, sonnet, blank verse, and free verse in depth. There will be lessons in historical significance, traditional structure, and grammar conventions for types of poetry.
Students will have the opportunity to write their own poetry, learning to express themselves in new ways.
Additionally, famous works will be featured, including excerpts from The Odyssey, Ozymandias, The Road Not Taken, Jabberwocky, We Real Cool, and more. These landmarks of literature will serve as sources of inspiration for the students’ writing.
Furthermore, the students will create art based on the subjects of their poems, further demonstrating their
